The Festival
Founded in 2016, Winter Apricots – Prilep International Film Festival was born from the desire to bring cinema back to a city that had lost its cultural pulse. What began as a modest grassroots initiative has grown into one of Macedonia’s most vital and distinctive cultural events, transforming Prilep each December into a place where film, art, and community meet.
Over the years, the festival has screened more than five hundred short films from five continents, hosted national and international guests, and built long-term partnerships with institutions and organizations across Europe. Its purpose has remained constant: to decentralize access to culture, nurture dialogue between generations and artistic disciplines, and prove that creativity can flourish far from the capital.
